Come as you are! Why is doing this so difficult?
I have found that coming as we are is something we find awkward. I don’t have the foggiest idea why, nevertheless, we generally want to put our best self forward. Despite the fact that some of us are hurting, pretending or vulnerable, it is hard to admit our issues. Just paint black as white and you the next big thing. Undoubtedly, I know some of us are sick of carrying on with a phoney and vain life? We want peace!
I was in a Christian gathering a few years prior and towards the end of the gathering, we were told to wait for the announcement. The younger me was not happy one bit; I would love to get going as soon as possible. Anyway, the minister urged us to come with a friend the following Sunday. I recall him saying; “They can come as they are.” In my head; I like, it is difficult to have people come as they! In addition, he went on to say, “try not to give them a chance to fill you with reasons they can’t come. Give them the motivation to come”. All over, he had a grin of certainty that whosoever God attracts to himself is in for a treat.
Today, I have learnt that God wants us to come as we are, irrespective of your past or present. God has the ability to purge use from all impurities.
You should know that;
The devil is out to fool us into accepting that we are not good, holy or worthy enough. I have once been in a circumstance where I felt like I am not allowed within the sight of God. Thankfully, I have learnt that; it is the devil who is not permitted in the presence of God. God’s hands are open wide to have me back.
God is willing to forgive us of our sins free of charge. Certainly, no one wants to enter a new year with the dirt and filth of this year. My prayer is that; God purifies me and enables me to be a better person in him.
This is why our prayer this morning will start by us asking for forgiveness. Then we will move on by asking God to purge us of every impurity.
Today I urge you to come as you are!
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.Matthew 6:14-15 KJV
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”Matthew 11:28-30
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.Psalms 51:7 KJV
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.John 8:11 (KJV)
